Journalism

The Cypress Creek Journalism Group is a dynamic, student‑driven program within the Conservatory of Arts, dedicated to developing strong storytellers, critical thinkers, and creative media communicators. As proud members of the Florida Scholastic Press Association (FSPA) and the Journalism Education Association, our students gain real‑world experience across multiple publications, using professional tools such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Canon DSLR equipment. More than 140 student journalists collaborate daily to research, write, design, and publish work that reflects the pulse of the Cypress Creek community.

Our program features four major student‑run publications: The ’Yote, our printed newspaper—the first in school history—showcasing student reporting, photography, and design; The Howler, our award‑winning yearbook recognized by FSPA for excellence in layout and photography and produced in partnership with Walsworth; The Whisper, our conceptual literary magazine launching in print and digital formats; and The CCHowler, our online news site with daily student‑created content powered by SNO. Across every platform, students learn the full journalism process—from concept to publication—while building the skills, confidence, and creative voice needed for future success in media and communication.
